As a Cover Supervisor, the successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining the high standards of education by supervising classes in the absence of the regular teacher. The role involves ensuring that students remain on task and that the lesson objectives are met while providing a positive and structured classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage classes in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring students are engaged and on task.
  • Follow the lesson plans provided by the absent teacher and ensure that learning objectives are met.
  • Maintain high standards of discipline and classroom management in line with school policies.
  • Provide support to students with varying needs, ensuring an inclusive environment for all learners.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff and school leaders to uphold the school's ethos and contribute to its success.
  • Monitor and report on student progress and behavior to relevant staff members.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with secondary school students, ideally in a supervisory or teaching assistant role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • A proactive approach and the ability to adapt to varying classroom environments and subject areas.
  • A clear understanding of safeguarding policies and practices within an educational setting.
  • Relevant qualifications such as a degree or equivalent experience in education or a related field are desirable.
  • Flexibility to work part-time hours, including availability to cover a range of subjects and classes.
