A secondary school in Gosport is seeking a reliable and dedicated Cover Supervisor to join their team on a part-time basis from October. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting students in their learning journey.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining the continuity of education by overseeing classes and presenting pre-planned lessons during the absence of the regular teacher.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will not be required to plan lessons or mark work, allowing you to focus entirely on providing a supportive and productive classroom environment. You will be expected to manage classroom behaviour effectively, ensuring that students remain engaged and adhere to the school’s policies. Additionally, you will be responsible for taking the register, assisting students with any questions they may have about the assigned tasks, and reporting any incidents or concerns to the relevant teaching staff.

 

Important Requirements:

  1. Strong Communication Skills: The ability to clearly explain instructions and interact positively with students of all ages is essential.
  2. Classroom Management: Experience in managing a classroom environment and dealing with various behaviour scenarios confidently and calmly.
  3. Adaptability and Flexibility: The ability to adapt quickly to different classroom settings and subject areas, ensuring that learning continues seamlessly.
  4. Reliability and Punctuality: A strong commitment to being reliable and punctual, ensuring that student's learning experiences are uninterrupted.
  5. Supportive and Approachable Nature: A genuine interest in helping student's succeed, showing patience, and understanding, and providing support when needed.
  6. Experience in an Educational Setting: Previous experience working in a school environment, particularly in a supervisory or teaching assistant role, is preferred.
  7. Basic IT Skills: Proficiency in using basic computer programs and educational technology to support lesson delivery.
