Job Summary:

The Cover Supervisor will play a vital role in supporting pupils' learning and maintaining a calm, orderly, and productive classroom environment in the absence of regular teaching staff. The successful candidate will oversee classes, ensuring that pupils remain focused on their assigned work, manage classroom behaviour effectively, and assist pupils with any questions they may have. This role is ideal for someone passionate about education and keen to make a positive impact on young people's academic journeys.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervising classes during teacher absences, ensuring that pupils follow the lesson plans set by teaching staff.
  • Managing pupil behaviour to ensure a calm, safe, and productive learning environment.
  • Providing support and guidance to pupils, helping them stay on task and assisting with queries related to their work.
  • Reporting back to teaching staff on pupil progress and any issues encountered during lessons.
  • Supporting the school's policies and ethos, promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Assisting with administrative tasks as required.
  • Collaborating with other staff members to support the overall objectives and values of the school.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with secondary school-aged pupils, ideally within an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to manage a classroom effectively and engage pupils in learning.
  • A positive and proactive approach to work.
  • A commitment to promoting the welfare and safeguarding of children.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in different classroom environments.
  • A good standard of literacy and numeracy.
