An exciting opportunity has arisen for an inspiring and skilled Design and Technology Teacher (Resistant Materials) to join a secondary school in Accrington. We are seeking a dedicated professional for a temporary to permanent position, starting in January 2025.

The Role:

As a key member of our Design and Technology department, you will teach Resistant Materials across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering creative and hands-on lessons that engage students in the practical aspects of design, engineering, and craftsmanship. You will support students in developing essential skills and knowledge in areas such as woodwork, metalwork, and product design.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality lessons in Resistant Materials, ensuring all students are challenged and supported.
  • Assess, track, and report on student progress in line with school policies.
  • Promote a safe and dynamic learning environment in workshops, ensuring all practical activities meet health and safety standards.
  • Inspire students to explore creative design solutions and develop their technical skills.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school, including extracurricular activities and design competitions.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Hold QTS and have a degree or relevant qualification in Design and Technology or a related subject.
  • Specialise in teaching Resistant Materials, with a solid understanding of wood, metal, and plastics.
  • Be passionate about practical, hands-on learning and have experience teaching in a secondary school environment.
  • Be committed to creating innovative and engaging lessons that promote student progress.
  • Have excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
