A high achieving secondary school in Harrogate is seeking a dynamic and passionate Design and Technology (DT) Teacher to join their team on a permanent basis starting from September 2024. Requirements:

  1. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Must hold QTS and have experience teaching Design and Technology at the secondary level.
  2. Relevant Degree: A degree in Design and Technology or a related field.
  3. Experience: Proven experience teaching DT to Key Stages 3, 4, and ideally 5.
  4. Curriculum Knowledge: Strong understanding of the DT curriculum and assessment requirements.
  5. Technical Skills: Proficiency in various DT specialisms such as product design, resistant materials, graphics, and textiles.
  6. Creativity and Innovation: Ability to inspire students through creative and innovative teaching methods.
  7. Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
  8. Classroom Management: Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive learning environment.
  9. Professional Development: Commitment to ongoing professional development and participation in school-wide initiatives.
  10. Safeguarding: Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Successful candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and challenging DT lessons that cater to the diverse needs of all students.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and setting appropriate targets.
  • Contribute to the development of the DT curriculum and participate in departmental planning and activities.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and supported.
  • Engage with parents and carers to provide regular updates on student progress and address any concerns.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities, school events, and professional development opportunities.
