A highly reputable Special Educational Needs and Mental Health (SEMH) School Group is seeking a dedicated and dynamic DT Teacher to join the permanent staff of their esteemed independent, special school in Windsor. This institution is renowned for its commitment to providing exceptional education and support to students with SEMH needs, fostering a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering engaging and innovative DT lessons to students with SEMH needs, ensuring all lessons are tailored to individual learning styles and requirements.
  • Developing and implementing creative curriculum plans that inspire and motivate students.
  • Assessing, recording, and reporting on the development, progress, and attainment of students.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to create a cohesive and supportive teaching environment.
  • Ensuring a safe and supportive classroom atmosphere that promotes positive behavior and learning.
  • Participating in school events, extracurricular activities, and professional development sessions.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Proven experience teaching Design and Technology, preferably within a special educational needs setting.
  • A thorough understanding of the challenges and strategies associated with teaching students with SEMH needs.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • A commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and supportive educational environment.
  • Flexibility, resilience, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • A passion for making a difference in the lives of young people with SEMH needs.

Desirable:

  • Additional qualifications or training in special educational needs or mental health.
  • Experience working within an independent school setting.
  • Familiarity with current educational policies and best practices in SEN and SEMH education.
