We are seeking a Design Technology Teacher with a specialism in Engineering and Product Design to join the school on a full-time, long-term basis. You will teach Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students, preparing them for their GCSE examinations and developing their practical skills in line with the national curriculum.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging lessons in Engineering and Product Design to students in Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Creating exciting, hands-on learning experiences that encourage students to think creatively and solve real-world problems.
  • Preparing students for their GCSE Design Technology examinations, ensuring all students have the skills and knowledge to succeed.
  • Developing schemes of work and lesson plans that reflect current curriculum requirements and industry standards.
  • Using modern tools, machinery, and design software to teach students essential skills in engineering and product design.
  • Providing regular assessment and feedback to monitor student progress and support their development.
  • Promoting a safe and inclusive classroom environment that encourages learning and collaboration.
  • Supporting the wider department and school through involvement in extra-curricular activities, such as design and technology clubs or engineering challenges.

The ideal candidate will be:

  • A qualified teacher with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experienced in teaching Design Technology at the secondary level, with a focus on Engineering and Product Design.
  • Enthusiastic about engaging students with practical, hands-on learning, and confident using tools, machinery, and design software in a workshop environment.
  • Able to deliver lessons that inspire creativity and develop problem-solving skills.
  • Committed to ensuring all students achieve their best, with the ability to differentiate lessons for students of varying abilities.
  • Passionate about the future of design and engineering, with an interest in developing new ideas and innovations in teaching these subjects.
  • Early Career Teachers (ECTs) with a strong knowledge of the Design Technology curriculum are encouraged to apply.
