Teaching Personnel is currently seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Design Technology (DT) Technician to support a secondary school in Basingstoke. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in supporting the DT department, assisting the DT Teacher in delivering lessons and preparing resources for students across Key Stage 3 and 4.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Classroom Support: Assist the DT Teacher in preparing and setting up materials, tools, and equipment for practical lessons.
  • Technical Expertise: Ensure that all tools, machinery, and equipment are maintained, safe to use, and in good working order, conducting regular checks as required.
  • Resource Management: Manage and organise the department’s stock of materials and tools, ensuring that everything is in place for lessons to run smoothly.
  • Student Assistance: Provide technical support to students during lessons, helping them understand the safe and correct use of equipment.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure that health and safety guidelines are adhered to in the classroom and workshops, helping to maintain a safe learning environment for students and staff.
  • General Support: Support the DT department with administrative tasks and contribute to the smooth running of the department.

Who Should Apply?

  • Experienced DT Technicians or individuals with a strong background in Design Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Candidates with good practical skills and the ability to work with machinery and tools safely.
  • Applicants with a keen interest in working in an educational setting and supporting the development of students' technical skills.
  • Must be organised, proactive, and capable of working independently as well as part of a team.
