We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Design & Technology Teacher to join our alternative provision school, catering to Key Stage 3 students who have experienced challenges in mainstream education. The students have Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) to ensure they receive the support they need to reach their full potential.

As a DT Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in creating an inclusive, nurturing, and supportive learning environment. You will have the ability to work with children with special educational needs (SEN), adapting lessons to meet individual learning styles and needs. The ideal candidate will foster creativity, set high expectations, and encourage students to develop confidence in their abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Design & Technology to Key Stage 3 students, focusing on creative and practical skills.
  • Work closely with students with SEN to ensure their needs are met, tailoring lessons to accommodate diverse abilities and EHCP requirements.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel valued, motivated, and supported in their learning journey.
  • Be a role model, setting excellent examples in behaviour, work ethic, and respect, fostering a sense of belonging for all students.
  • Use creative approaches to engage students who may have struggled in mainstream schools, building their confidence and enthusiasm for learning.
  • Collaborate with the wider school team, including support staff and external professionals, to provide a holistic approach to student development.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification.
  • Experience working with students with special educational needs (SEN), particularly those with EHCPs.
  • A passion for Design & Technology, with the ability to inspire and motivate students.
  • Patience, empathy, and a commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a proactive and flexible approach.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
