Job Title: Teaching Assistant (Specialising in English Language)

About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant specialising in English language to join our Cardiff-based school. The successful candidate will support students in developing their English language skills and help foster a love for learning. You will work closely with the English department, assisting with lesson preparation, delivering small group interventions, and providing one-on-one support to students who need additional help.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging English language lessons.
  • Work with small groups or individual students to improve their reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension skills.
  • Assist in creating and adapting teaching materials to meet the diverse needs of learners.
  • Provide feedback to students and help track their progress.
  • Support classroom management and maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with staff to develop strategies for supporting students with varying levels of English proficiency.
  • Attend relevant training and professional development sessions.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children, ideally in an educational setting.
  • A strong passion for English language and a desire to inspire young learners.
  • Good understanding of the English language curriculum.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  • A relevant qualification, such as a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Certificate, is desirable.

Desirable:

  • Experience supporting students with additional language needs (EAL/ESL).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
