Job Opportunity: English Graduate Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel is seeking a motivated and dedicated English Graduate Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated good secondary school in Bramhall. This full-time position starts ASAP and continues until the end of the academic year, with the possibility of becoming permanent based on performance. The pay for this role ranges from £419.25 to £500 per week.

Role Overview:

As an English Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will support the English department in delivering high-quality education and promoting a love for literature and language among students. This role is ideal for recent English graduates who are considering a career in education and want to gain valuable experience in a supportive school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Student Support:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, helping them to develop their reading, writing, and comprehension skills.
  • Assist students with special educational needs, ensuring they receive the appropriate support and resources to achieve their academic goals.
  • Monitor student progress, provide feedback, and work with teachers to adapt learning plans to meet individual needs.

Classroom Assistance:

  • Support teachers in delivering engaging and effective English lessons, preparing and organizing teaching materials and resources.
  • Assist with classroom management, implementing behavior management strategies, and maintaining a positive and productive learning environment.
  • Supervise students during lessons, breaks, and extracurricular activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.

Administrative Support:

  • Help with the preparation and maintenance of classroom displays and learning environments, ensuring they are conducive to learning.
  • Undertake administrative tasks such as record-keeping, filing, and photocopying to support teachers and the school's administrative staff.
  • Assist in organizing and participating in school events, trips, and extracurricular activities related to the English department.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and external professionals to meet the needs of students and contribute to their overall development.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and carers, providing updates on progress and addressing any concerns.
  • Participate in regular staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

  • Recent graduate with a degree in English or a related field.
  • Passion for education and working with young people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Patience, empathy, and a supportive approach to working with young people.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting is desirable but not essential.
