Teaching Personnel is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated English Graduate to join an Ofsted-rated 'Good' secondary school in Stockport as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. This is a full-time role starting ASAP and will continue until the end of the academic year, with the potential for the position to become permanent based on performance. The pay for this role is between £419.25 and £500 per week.

Role Overview:

As an English Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students' literacy and English language development. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Student Support: Assisting students across various year groups in understanding and analyzing English literature, enhancing their reading, writing, and comprehension skills.
  • Classroom Assistance: Working closely with English teachers to deliver engaging lessons, helping to maintain a productive learning environment, and ensuring that all students are involved and supported.
  • Small Group and One-on-One Tutoring: Providing targeted support to students who may need additional help with English, offering personalized sessions to boost their confidence and academic performance.
  • Lesson Preparation: Assisting in the creation and preparation of lesson plans, learning materials, and resources, ensuring they cater to the diverse needs of students.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Helping to evaluate students' work, providing constructive feedback, and tracking their progress to help them achieve their academic goals.
  • Literacy Development: Supporting initiatives aimed at improving literacy across the school, including reading programs, writing workshops, and other English-related activities.
  • Mentorship: Acting as a mentor and role model, inspiring students to develop a passion for English and to excel in their studies.
  • Administrative Support: Assisting with administrative tasks within the English department, such as maintaining student records, organizing resources, and helping with data analysis.
  • Extracurricular Activities: Encouraging and supporting students in English-related extracurricular activities, such as book clubs, debate teams, and writing competitions.
  • Professional Development: Participating in ongoing professional development opportunities provided by the school to enhance your skills in educational support and classroom management.

Requirements:

  • A degree in English or a related field.
  • A genuine passion for English literature and language, with a strong desire to support students in their learning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Patience, empathy, and a commitment to helping students succeed.
  • Previous experience working with young people in an educational setting is advantageous but not essential.
