Key Responsibilities:

Your role will include providing one-on-one or small group support to students who need extra help with their reading, writing, and understanding of literary concepts.

  • Intervention Sessions: Conduct targeted intervention sessions for students who require additional support. This may involve working with students who are below their expected reading or writing levels or helping those who need a boost in their confidence with the subject.

  • Resource Preparation: Assist in the development and preparation of teaching resources. This could include creating lesson plans, preparing worksheets, or organizing reading materials. You will work closely with the English department to ensure resources meet the needs of all students.

  • Behaviour Management: Help maintain a positive learning environment by supporting classroom behaviour policies. You will assist in managing student behaviour during lessons and encourage a respectful and focused classroom atmosphere.

  • Progress Monitoring: Track the progress of students you work with and provide feedback to teaching staff. • Extracurricular Activities: Support English-related extracurricular activities, such as book clubs, drama workshops, or school newspaper projects. This is a great opportunity to inspire students outside of the regular curriculum and foster a love for English.

  • Pastoral Care: Offer pastoral support to students, helping them with both academic and personal challenges. You will be a trusted adult that students can approach for guidance and advice, contributing to their overall well-being.

  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with English teachers and other staff members to ensure students receive comprehensive support. Collaboration and communication will be key to providing the best learning experience for the students.
