Key Responsibilities:

As an English Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will be a valuable asset to the English department, supporting teachers and students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. Your duties will include:

  • Assisting English teachers with lesson preparation, delivery, and classroom activities
  • Working closely with students to provide targeted support, either one-on-one or in small groups, helping them improve their reading, writing, and comprehension skills
  • Supporting students with varying abilities, including those who may need extra help to reach their full potential
  • Helping to manage classroom behaviour and maintaining a positive and focused learning environment
  • Assisting with marking, assessing students’ progress, and providing feedback under the guidance of teaching staff
  • Supporting the delivery of extra-curricular activities, such as English clubs, reading groups, or drama projects
  • Acting as a role model, inspiring students to engage with English and improve their literacy skills

What We're Looking For:

  • A recent graduate with a degree in English, Literature, or a related field
  • A passion for education and an interest in pursuing a career in teaching
  • Strong subject knowledge in English and excellent communication skills
  • The ability to engage and motivate students in their studies
  • A proactive, patient, and supportive approach to helping students with different learning needs
  • Previous experience working with young people or in a school setting is desirable but not essential
