Key Responsibilities:

As an English Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will support the English department in delivering engaging and effective lessons, helping students to develop their reading, writing, and analytical skills. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the English teachers in delivering lessons by supporting individual students or small groups to enhance their understanding of key concepts
  • Providing one-on-one support for students who may need additional help with reading comprehension, essay writing, or exam preparation
  • Supporting students in their preparation for GCSE English exams, offering guidance on revision techniques and helping to build their confidence
  • Helping to manage classroom behaviour, ensuring that all students are engaged and focused on their learning
  • Marking work and providing constructive feedback to students, encouraging their academic progress
  • Assisting with the planning and preparation of lesson resources, ensuring lessons are well-structured and accessible for all students
  • Promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel supported in their learning
  • Supporting extracurricular activities such as English clubs, reading groups, or writing workshops

What We're Looking For:

  • A recent graduate with a degree in English or a related subject
  • A strong passion for English literature and language, with a desire to inspire and engage young learners
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain ideas clearly and concisely
  • A proactive and patient approach to working with students of varying abilities
  • Previous experience working with young people, either in an educational setting or through volunteering, is desirable but not essential
