Key Responsibilities:

As an English Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the English department, supporting both students and teachers in delivering engaging lessons. Your duties will include:

  • Providing one-to-one or small group support for students who need additional help with reading, writing, or exam preparation
  • Assisting the classroom teacher in delivering English lessons and ensuring all students are engaged and making progress
  • Helping students improve their literacy skills by offering targeted support and intervention
  • Supporting students in preparation for GCSE English exams, focusing on key skills such as essay writing, analysis, and comprehension
  • Contributing to the development and preparation of lesson materials to create an inclusive and stimulating learning environment
  • Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to the teacher to help track academic development
  • Encouraging a positive attitude towards learning and building students' confidence in their English abilities
  • Assisting with classroom management and ensuring a productive and focused learning environment
  • Participating in extracurricular activities such as book clubs or writing workshops to further engage students with English literature and language

What We're Looking For:

  • A recent graduate with a degree in English or a related subject
  • A passion for English literature and language with the desire to inspire young learners
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex concepts in an accessible way
  • A patient, proactive, and supportive approach to working with students of varying abilities
  • Previous experience working with young people in an educational setting is desirable but not essential
