We are seeking an experienced and passionate SEN English Teacher with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) to join our specialised SEN Secondary School, working with students who have Autism and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD). You will be responsible for teaching Eduqas English Language GCSE, adapting lessons to meet the diverse needs of your students and supporting them to achieve their full potential.

  • Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality English lessons tailored to students with Autism and MLD, focusing on the Eduqas English Language GCSE curriculum.
  • Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the needs of individual students, using specialist strategies to support communication, literacy, and engagement.
  • Provide a positive, structured, and nurturing classroom environment that encourages confidence and learning.
  • Work closely with the SEN team to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and differentiated learning strategies.
  • Regularly assess student progress, offering constructive feedback and adjusting lesson plans to maximise learning outcomes.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, promoting independence, self-esteem, and social development.
  • A specialist teaching environment equipped with excellent SEN resources and facilities.
  • Opportunities for continued professional development, including SEN-specific training and support.
  • A supportive and committed team that works collaboratively to deliver the best outcomes for students.
  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) with a specialism or experience in English.
  • Previous experience teaching students with Autism, MLD, or other SEN in an educational setting desirabke.
  • A deep understanding of the challenges students with Autism and MLD face, with the ability to create tailored, engaging lesson plans.
  • Experience with the Eduqas English Language GCSE curriculum is highly desirable however not neccessary.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a commitment to teamwork and collaboration with SEN professionals, parents, and students.
  • A compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach to teaching, with the ability to inspire and motivate students.
