Are you a passionate and dedicated English Teacher seeking a rewarding role? Teaching Personnel is delighted to offer a full-time position for an English Teacher at an Ofsted Good secondary school in Levenshulme. This role is available to start in September for the full academic year, with the potential for permanency based on performance. The salary for this role is £30,000 to £46,525 per annum, in line with PayScale.

Role Overview:

As an English Teacher, you will inspire and educate students in the English language, literature, and literacy skills. You will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing English lessons in accordance with the national curriculum, ensuring that all students develop strong reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging English lessons covering a range of topics, genres, and literary works, fostering students' appreciation for literature and language.

  • Literacy Skills: Teach students essential literacy skills, including reading comprehension, writing composition, grammar, and vocabulary development.

  • Literary Analysis: Guide students in analysing and interpreting literary texts, poems, and plays, encouraging them to develop critical thinking, creativity, and analytical skills.

  • Writing Development: Support students in improving their writing skills through various genres, including narrative, persuasive, and descriptive writing, helping them to express their ideas and opinions effectively.

  • Assessment and Feedback: Regularly assess student progress through a variety of formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback to support their learning and development.

  • Behaviour Management: Establish a positive and inclusive learning environment by implementing effective behaviour management strategies that promote respect, engagement, and participation.

  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues within the English department and across the school to share best practices, resources, and ideas for enhancing teaching and learning.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification with a specialism in English or English Literature.

  • Strong subject knowledge across English language, literature, and literacy skills.

  • Previous experience teaching English at the secondary level, preferably within a UK school setting.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.

  • Commitment to promoting literacy, creativity, and a love for English language and literature among students.
