Head of English – Sale (M33)

A SEN Secondary School based in Sale are seeking a English Teacher/Head of English to join their team in September. This 11-19 provision is a member of a successful MAT. All pupils have moderate or severe learning difficulties, but many have additional needs such as autistic spectrum condition, social and emotional mental health and physical disabilities. This means small class sizes and a nurturing approach, with the aim of emotional and social development to create self-reliant, caring, responsible adults.

This is a full-time, temp to perm role through Teaching Personnel. The school’s teaching week is 27.5 hours. In a typical week, this will consist of 25 hours teaching and at least 2.5 hours PPA time. As Head of English, the successful applicant will have 2.5 hours Management allowance additional. The incoming Teacher will earn Teachers’ Main Scale M1 – M 6 UPS + 2 SEN TLR 2a Min, and will be delivering lessons across key stages 3 and 4 up to GCSE.

The school are seeking an English Teacher with a good understanding of the National Curriculum. They will be expecting a strong understanding of SEN and the different ways to support it, including strong behaviour management.

As Head of English, other responsibilities will include monitoring and evaluating pupils progress across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will lead and manage the curriculum to ensure the delivery of appropriate, comprehensive and high-quality education for all pupils, incorporating pathways suited to individual needs.
