English Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a passionate and motivated English Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic client secondary school in November. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the teaching of English across various year groups, assisting both teachers and students to enhance the learning experience.

The school is situated in Old Trafford and is only a short walk away from the nearest public transport options including bus and tram stops. There is also a large onsite car park for members of staff with a vehicle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Classroom Activities: Assist the lead teacher in delivering engaging lessons that cater to diverse learning needs. Help facilitate group activities, discussions, and individual tasks.
  • Provide One-on-One Support: Work with students who require additional help, ensuring they grasp key concepts and improve their literacy skills.
  • Assist with Lesson Planning: Collaborate with teachers to prepare resources and materials for lessons, ensuring they are tailored to meet curriculum objectives.
  • Monitor Student Progress: Help assess student performance through informal assessments and provide feedback to teachers regarding individual student needs.
  • Encourage Positive Behaviour: Foster a positive classroom environment by promoting good behaviour, respect, and cooperation among students.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of GCSEs in English (Grade C or above) or equivalent qualifications; further education in English or Education is desirable.
  • Previous experience working with children or young adults is preferred but not essential; we welcome applications from enthusiastic individuals willing to learn.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also demonstrating initiative.
  • A genuine passion for education and helping students succeed.
