Entry-Level Behaviour Support Assistant (PRU)

Location: Salford

Start Date: September 

The setting is a dedicated Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) that provides specialised education and support for students who have been excluded from mainstream schools or are at risk of exclusion. Our mission is to offer a safe and structured environment where students can overcome challenges, develop positive behaviors, and re-engage with their education. We are looking for passionate and resilient individuals to join our team as Behaviour Support Assistants, helping us make a meaningful difference in the lives of our students.

Are you eager to start a career in education and have a passion for supporting young people with challenging behaviors? We have an exciting opportunity for an Entry-Level Behaviour Support Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with students to help them develop positive behavior patterns, build confidence, and achieve their potential in a supportive and understanding environment.

  • Provide one-on-one and group support to students, helping them manage and improve their behavior.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of behavior management plans tailored to individual students.
  • Support teachers in maintaining a positive and productive classroom environment, intervening when necessary to de-escalate challenging situations.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students, acting as a positive role model and mentor.
  • Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to teachers and other staff members.
  • Help students develop social skills, emotional resilience, and coping strategies.
  • Participate in extra-curricular activities and contribute to the wider school community.
  • Passion: A strong desire to work with young people who exhibit challenging behaviors, helping them to develop and succeed.
  • Resilience: Ability to remain calm, patient, and positive in difficult situations.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents.
  • Initiative: A proactive approach, with the ability to think on your feet and adapt to changing situations.
  • Experience: While no formal qualifications or previous experience are required, an interest in behavior management, psychology, or education is advantageous.
