ESOL Tutor

We are seeking a passionate and experienced ESOL Tutor to join the dedicated team at a client secondary school. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in teaching English to speakers of other languages and be able to create engaging lesson plans that cater to the varying needs of the students.

In this role, you will play a crucial role in helping non-native English speakers improve their language skills, enabling them to thrive academically and socially within the school community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Deliver Lessons: Design and implement effective ESOL lesson plans tailored to the needs of individual students or groups, focusing on speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.
  • Assess Student Progress: Regularly assess student performance through formative assessments, providing constructive feedback and adapting teaching methods as necessary.
  • Support Integration: Assist students in integrating into the school community by promoting cultural awareness and understanding among peers.
  • Collaborate with Staff: Work closely with other teachers and staff members to ensure a cohesive approach to supporting ESOL learners across the curriculum.
  • Engage with Parents/Guardians: Communicate effectively with parents or guardians regarding student progress and ways they can support their child’s learning at home.
  • Professional Development: Stay updated on best practices in ESOL education by participating in professional development opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Education, Linguistics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • A recognized TEFL/TESOL qualification is essential.
  • Proven experience teaching ESOL at secondary school level or similar educational settings.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
