We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic EYFS Teaching Assistant with a specialism in SEN support to join our primary school in Colne (BB8) for the upcoming academic year. This role involves working closely with early years pupils, including those with special educational needs, to ensure they receive the best possible start to their education.

  • Support Early Years Learning: Assist the classroom teacher in delivering the EYFS curriculum, creating a stimulating and engaging learning environment for all children.
  • SEN Support: Provide tailored support for students with special educational needs, including those with autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and other learning challenges.
  • Classroom Management: Help maintain an orderly and supportive classroom atmosphere, promoting positive behaviour and social interactions among students.
  • Personal Care: Assist with personal care tasks as needed, ensuring the well-being and comfort of all students, particularly those with additional needs.
  • Progress Monitoring: Observe and record student progress, providing feedback to the class teacher and SENCO to inform planning and intervention strategies.
  • Resource Preparation: Prepare learning materials and resources to support individual and group activities.
  • Parental Engagement: Communicate effectively with parents and carers, providing updates on their child’s progress and addressing any concerns.
  • Professional Development: Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities provided by Teaching Personnel and the school.
  • Experience: Previous experience working within an EYFS setting and supporting children with SEN is essential.
  • Qualifications: Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification. Additional training in SEN is highly desirable.
  • Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, patience, adaptability, and a positive attitude towards working with young children.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with the EYFS framework and a good understanding of various SEN conditions and effective support strategies.
  • Clearance: Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one) and satisfactory references.
