We need Teaching Assistants to support children under 5 years old in nursery settings. You’ll bring an innovative approach to early childhood development, encouraging children to explore, imagine, and learn through creative activities. With SEN needs on the rise in early years due to recent lockdowns, experience with SEN would be highly desirable.

Key Skills and Responsibilities
As a Nursery Class Assistant, you’ll be involved in the following:

  • Planning and Observation: Track and support child development through structured activities, using assessment tools such as iPads and tablets (e.g., Tapestry).
  • Supporting Development: Monitor progress and create daily plans to foster growth in line with each child’s abilities.
  • Personal Care: Assist in the personal care of children, with specific needs varying by setting.
  • Behavior Management: Implement basic behavior management techniques to maintain a positive learning environment.

  • Skills in Speech and Language development.
  • A vibrant and energetic approach to working with children.
  • A nurturing, caring personality that makes children feel valued.
  • Experience in observing speech and listening development.
  • A fun, positive attitude that aligns with the joyful atmosphere of nurseries.

You’ll work in partnership with nurseries and Early Years settings across Hull and surrounding areas. Whether you're supporting small groups or working 1-1 with children with SEN needs, your role will be to create a safe, happy, and inclusive environment that encourages children to reach their full potential.

We work with nurseries in Hull and the surrounding areas, so access to transport is preferred to support various bookings.


Candidates should hold a Level 2/3 qualification in childhood or childcare, education studies, or a similar relevant qualification.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
