A specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school in Blackburn, dedicated to supporting students with complex needs. The Role:
As a Family Support Worker, you will:

  • Work closely with families to offer guidance, support, and practical advice, helping them to overcome barriers that may impact their child's education and well-being.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with families, acting as a key point of contact between home and school.
  • Assist families in accessing local services and resources, including mental health support, financial assistance, and community programs.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SEN specialists, and external agencies to create a coordinated support plan for each student.
  • Help to develop and deliver workshops and programs aimed at improving parenting skills, emotional well-being, and family dynamics.
  • Provide one-to-one support for students and parents, addressing specific challenges and helping to resolve issues that may arise.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working with families, particularly in a supportive or advisory role, ideally within an educational or SEMH setting.
  • A compassionate, non-judgmental approach, with excellent listening and communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by families with children who have SEMH needs.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, with a proactive and solution-focused mindset.
  • Relevant qualifications in social work, family support, or a related field, or a willingness to undertake further training.
