We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Finance Officer to join our team and support the financial management of our school.

As a Finance Officer, you will play a crucial role in managing the financial operations of the school. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing financial support and advice to the senior leadership team. Your attention to detail and expertise in financial management will help ensure the effective and efficient use of school resources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the school’s financial systems and processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Process invoices, payments, and receipts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with school policies.
  • Monitor expenditure and income, providing regular financial reports to the senior leadership team and governors.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and financial statements.
  • Conduct regular financial audits and ensure compliance with financial regulations and guidelines.
  • Liaise with external auditors, suppliers, and other stakeholders as required.
  • Provide financial advice and support to staff, ensuring they have the necessary information to manage their budgets effectively.
  • Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions and ensure they are properly documented.
  • Support the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as required to support the financial management of the school.

Person Specification:

  • A recognized finance or accounting qualification (e.g., AAT, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in financial management, preferably within an educational setting.
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations and best practices.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in financial management software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff, governors, and external stakeholders.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to work, with a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Understanding of the educational environment and the specific financial challenges faced by schools is desirable.
