Teaching Personnel is seeking dedicated and qualified teachers to join our team on a flexible, casual basis to provide high-quality cover in schools that support students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across Hampshire. This is a rewarding opportunity for experienced professionals with a passion for making a positive impact on the lives of children with a range of additional needs.

About the Role

We work in close partnership with a variety of SEND schools that cater to pupils with a broad spectrum of needs, including:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties
  • Global Developmental Delay
  • Speech and Language Disorders
  • Severe Learning Disabilities

As a SEND teacher working with Teaching Personnel, you will provide vital support to these schools by covering short-term and long-term absences, including sickness cover, planned leave, and other temporary vacancies. Your role will involve stepping into classrooms to deliver lessons, maintain a supportive and structured learning environment, and work closely with school staff to ensure the continued educational development of pupils.

Requirements

We are looking for teachers who meet the following criteria:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): You must hold full Qualified Teacher Status and be registered with the relevant teaching body.
  • Experience in SEND environments: Previous experience working with students with high needs in SEND settings is essential. You should be familiar with the challenges and rewards that come with supporting children with complex needs.
  • Flexibility: You will be available to work between 1 and 5 days per week, depending on your availability and the demand from schools.
  • Location: You should be able to travel to or live within the following key areas in Hampshire: Southampton, Winchester, Basingstoke, and Portsmouth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality teaching and support for students with SEND.
  • Adapt lessons and teaching methods to meet individual learning needs.
  • Work collaboratively with school staff, including teaching assistants and SENCOs, to provide a nurturing and inclusive environment.
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively, using appropriate strategies to support pupils' social and emotional development.
  • Maintain a high standard of safeguarding, ensuring the safety and well-being of all students.
