An esteemed and high-achieving secondary school in Reading is seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher of Food Technology to join their permanent staff list starting in September 2024. Role Overview:

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and dynamic Food Technology lessons to students across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential to teach at Key Stage 5. They will inspire students to develop their culinary skills, understand the importance of nutrition, and appreciate the role of food in society. The role also includes planning and preparing lessons, assessing and reporting on student progress, and contributing to the wider school community through extracurricular activities and events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality Food Technology lessons.
  • Assess, record, and report on the development, progress, and attainment of students.
  • Create a stimulating and safe learning environment.
  • Develop and implement schemes of work and lesson plans.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom culture that encourages students' love for learning.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
  • Engage with parents, carers, and external agencies to support student progress.
  • Contribute to the wider school community, including extracurricular activities and events.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Food Technology, Home Economics, or a related field.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Proven experience teaching Food Technology at secondary school level.
  • Strong knowledge of the National Curriculum for Food Technology.
  • Excellent classroom management skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students of all abilities.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.
  • A passion for teaching and a genuine interest in students' academic and personal growth.

Desirable:

  • Experience teaching Food Technology at Key Stage 5.
  • Additional qualifications or training in nutrition, food safety, or related areas.
  • Experience in leading extracurricular activities or school clubs related to Food Technology.
