About the Role:
We are currently seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Food Technology Technician to join the vibrant and dynamic team at a leading school in Darwen. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with a passion for food technology and education to play a pivotal role in supporting the school's Food Technology department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Classroom Preparation: Assist in the preparation of materials, ingredients, and equipment for practical food technology lessons, ensuring all resources are ready and available for use by students and teaching staff.
  • Lesson Support: Provide in-class support during practical lessons, helping students with the use of equipment and ingredients, ensuring a safe and productive learning environment.
  • Maintenance: Regularly maintain and clean food technology equipment, including ovens, hobs, and small appliances, ensuring they are in safe working order. Report any faults or issues promptly.
  • Inventory Management: Manage stock levels of ingredients and equipment, placing orders as necessary and ensuring budget adherence. Keep accurate records of inventory and expenditures.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, including food hygiene standards. Conduct risk assessments and ensure that all activities are carried out safely.
  • Student Support: Assist with the supervision of students during practical sessions, providing guidance and support as needed, and encouraging a positive learning experience.

About You:
The ideal candidate will have:

  • A genuine interest in food technology and a passion for working with young people.
  • Previous experience in a similar role within an educational setting is highly desirable.
  • A good understanding of food hygiene and health & safety regulations.
  • A proactive approach with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards.
  • A Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene Certificate or willingness to obtain one.
