We are looking for a motivated and organised Food Technology Technician to join our forward-thinking secondary school in Darwen on a full-time basis from January 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting the teaching of Food Technology and helping students develop practical culinary skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the Food Technology department with lesson preparation, including setting up equipment and ingredients.
  • Maintaining and organising kitchen resources, ensuring a clean and safe working environment.
  • Supporting students during practical lessons, ensuring they adhere to health and safety standards.
  • Managing stock levels, ordering ingredients, and keeping inventory records.
  • Assisting in the maintenance of equipment and ensuring appliances are in working order.
  • Supporting the smooth running of extra-curricular and enrichment activities within the department.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have experience working in a kitchen or food preparation environment, ideally in an educational setting (but not essential).
  • Have a good understanding of food hygiene, health, and safety regulations.
  • Be highly organised, with strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask.
  • Be a team player with excellent communication skills and a flexible approach to work.
  • Be passionate about supporting young learners and fostering a positive, creative atmosphere.
