About the Role:

A vibrant secondary school in Manchester is seeking a versatile and dedicated General Support Staff member to join their team from September 2024. This role is ideal for individuals who are eager to contribute to the day-to-day operations of the school and support the educational environment in various capacities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Classroom Assistance: Provide support in the classroom to teachers and students, including setting up resources, assisting with lesson delivery, and supporting students with their work.
  • Event Support: Assist with the organization and execution of school events, including assemblies, parent evenings, and extracurricular activities. This may include setting up equipment, managing guest lists, and ensuring that events run smoothly.
  • Administrative Tasks: Support the school office with general administrative duties as needed, such as photocopying, filing, and distributing materials. You may also be required to assist with attendance tracking and basic data entry.
  • Student Supervision: Provide supervision for students during breaks, lunchtimes, and other non-classroom activities, ensuring a safe and positive environment. You may also assist with after-school programs and clubs.
  • Maintenance and Logistics: Help maintain the school facilities, including setting up classrooms, moving equipment, and ensuring that school spaces are clean and organized. You may also be involved in minor repairs and liaising with external contractors.
  • Support for SEN Students: Work closely with the SEN department to support students with special educational needs, offering one-on-one assistance and helping to implement individual education plans (IEPs).

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience: Prior experience in a school or educational setting is preferred, though not essential. Experience in roles involving multitasking and working with young people will be highly regarded.
  • Skills: Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Personal Qualities: A friendly, approachable demeanor, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents. Flexibility and adaptability are crucial, as the role may involve a variety of tasks and responsibilities.
  • Commitment: A genuine interest in supporting the educational environment and contributing to the school community.
