Job Description

Teaching Personnel are working with one of our partner secondary schools who are looking to appoint a new Teacher of Geography from September 2024. The Geography department at the school are a committed and supportive team, comprising of experienced teachers, ECTs and non-specialists. The Geography Department believe that all students are entitled to a challenging, academic and enjoyable experience of Geography. There are also opportunities for collaboration with schools within the same Trust to share expertise and support the development of Geography teaching.

Key Responsibilities
● To develop a curiosity, excitement, and passion for Geography within student.
● To contribute to raising standards of student attainment and build a culture of excellence in all classes.
● To monitor and support the overall progress and development of students as a Teacher/Form Tutor
● To provide a learning experience which gives the students the opportunity to achieve their individual potential.
● To implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students and to support the Geography curriculum area as appropriate.
● To share and support the school’s responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth.

Specific Responsibilities Teaching:
● To teach students according to their educational needs, including the setting and marking of work.
● To assess, record and report on the attendance, progress, development, and attainment of students and to keep such records as are required.
● To provide, or contribute to, oral and written assessments, reports and references relating to individual students and groups of students.
● To ensure that ICT, Literacy, Numeracy, and school subject specialism(s) are reflected in the teaching/learning experience of students.
● To undertake a designated programme of teaching.
● To ensure a high-quality learning experience for students which meets internal and external quality standards.
● To prepare and update subject materials.
● To use a variety of delivery methods which will stimulate learning appropriate to student needs and the demands of the syllabus.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
