The Graduate TA role
Working as a Graduate TA is a great way for aspiring primary school teachers to gain invaluable paid school experience ahead of commencing teacher training. Graduates get the chance to gain hands on paid school based experience where you will get the opportunity to get an insight into life as a teacher at a Maidstone primary school. As a Graduate teaching assistant at this primary school the Graduates work within the schools well renowned learning support department and work closely with pupils from year R - year 6 in a wide range of subject areas. You will get the opportunity to observe various teaching styles and techniques which will stand you in good stead when you commence teacher training. You will be working with students in small groups and on a 1:1 basis.
What we look for from a Graduate TA
This Maidstone primary school look for Graduates who hold a 2.1 Degree or above and have managed to gain some form of recent experience with young people - paid or voluntary. You may have gained this experience a number of ways such as tutoring, school placements, youth work, sports coaching, overseas teaching……… You must also have an interest in a career in teaching and be considering commencing teacher training in the near future. Over the past 7 years a high number of Graduates have been successful when applying for their PGCE/school direct having worked at the school.
