On behalf of a large special school in Plymouth, Teaching Personnel are recruiting students and graduates for part and full time Teaching Assistant positions. The role of a Teaching Assistant/ Learning Support assistant is a very rewarding one! On a daily basis, you will be supporting primary or secondary school aged pupils with their learning. This may be in small groups, on a 1:1 basis or learning outside the classroom in the schools large outdoor space and play area!

The role:

9am - 3:30pm, Monday to Friday, term time only (part time positions available to fit in with your studies!)

1:1 and in small groups supporting children with SEN such as severe learning difficulties, profound learning difficulties and physical difficulties

Help children with their engagement and interaction

Use Makaton and PECS to communicate

Get involved in activities such as arts and crafts, learning outside the classroom

 

The successful candidate:

  • Will be studying an education related course or have a degree within Education, SEN or other
  • Be empathetic and understanding to each childs' needs
  • Have a nurturing approach to teaching and learning
  • Be available 2 or more days a week between the hours od 8:30am and 3:30pm
  • Ideally have experience with MAKATON and/or PECS

 

In order to work for Teaching Personnel and clear our vetting process, you must have a Child Workforce DBS subscribed to the Update Service. Full assistance will be provided should you need to apply for a new check, at a standard cost of £40, plus an annual subscription fee of £13 for the Update Service.
