Job Description:

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Graduate Teaching Assistant to support within a Special Education School in Wigan. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate to gain hands-on experience in the classroom and develop a deeper understanding of working with students with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the classroom teacher in planning and delivering lessons tailored to the needs of SEN students.
  • Provide one-on-one support to students with special educational needs, helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their learning goals.
  • Support students with physical, emotional, and social development.
  • Assist in the preparation of learning materials and classroom resources.
  • Participate in school-wide activities and contribute to a positive school culture.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Attend training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and understanding of SEN.

Qualifications:

  • A recent graduate with a degree in Education, Psychology, Special Education, or a related field.
  • A passion for working with children and a strong interest in SEN.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
  • Previous experience working with children (voluntary or paid) is desirable but not essential.
