Graduate Teaching Assistant - Chorlton

Teaching Personnel is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Graduate Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated 'Good' secondary school in Chorlton. This full-time position is available for an immediate start and will continue until the end of the academic year, with the potential for the role to become permanent based on performance. The weekly pay for this role ranges from £419.25 to £500.

Role Overview:

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students' academic progress and overall school experience. Working closely with teachers and the school's support staff, you will assist in creating an inclusive learning environment where all students can achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Classroom Support: Work alongside teachers to provide support during lessons. This may include helping to prepare materials, assisting with classroom management, and providing one-on-one or small group assistance to students who need additional help.

  • Individual Student Support: Offer targeted support to individual students, particularly those who may be struggling academically or have special educational needs. You will help them to stay engaged in lessons, understand difficult concepts, and complete their work to the best of their ability.

  • Intervention Programs: Assist with the planning and delivery of intervention sessions for students who need extra support in key subjects such as English, Maths, and Science. These sessions aim to boost students' confidence and help them achieve their academic targets.

  • Pastoral Support: Build positive relationships with students, offering guidance and support for their emotional and social development. You may be involved in mentoring students, helping them to overcome personal challenges, and encouraging positive behaviour.

  • Extracurricular Activities: Contribute to the school's extracurricular program by assisting with clubs, sports teams, or other activities that take place outside of regular school hours. This is an opportunity to help students develop skills and interests beyond the classroom.

  • Administrative Tasks: Support teachers with administrative duties, such as marking homework, recording student progress, and organizing resources for lessons. This allows teachers to focus more on planning and delivering high-quality lessons.

  • Professional Development: Take advantage of the training and development opportunities offered by Teaching Personnel and the school. This role is an excellent stepping stone for graduates considering a career in teaching or education more broadly.

Requirements:

  • A recent graduate, preferably with a degree in a relevant subject.
  • A passion for education and a strong desire to support young people in their learning journey.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents.
  • A proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Previous experience working with young people, whether in a school, tutoring, or a voluntary capacity, is highly desirable.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Benefits:

  • Weekly pay of £419.25 - £500.
  • The opportunity to gain valuable experience in a supportive school environment, with the potential for the role to become permanent.
  • Access to a range of professional development opportunities through Teaching Personnel.
  • The chance to make a real difference in students' lives, helping them to achieve their academic goals and develop personally.
