Teaching Personnel is seeking a motivated Graduate Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Levenshulme. This full-time position begins in October and will run until the end of the academic year, with the possibility of becoming a permanent role based on performance. The role offers a competitive weekly pay ranging from £419.25 to £500.

Role Overview:

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting both teachers and students across various subjects. This position is ideal for recent graduates who are considering a career in education and are looking for hands-on experience in a school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Classroom Support: Assist teachers in delivering lessons by providing targeted support to students, helping them understand and engage with the material. You will work with small groups or individual students to reinforce learning and help with any difficulties they may be experiencing.

  • Resource Preparation: Help prepare teaching materials and classroom resources, ensuring that they are tailored to meet the needs of all students. This includes creating visual aids, worksheets, and other educational tools.

  • One-on-One Tutoring: Provide one-on-one tutoring for students who may need additional help with their studies. You will support them in understanding concepts, completing assignments, and preparing for exams.

  • Behavior Management: Assist in maintaining a positive learning environment by helping to manage classroom behavior. You will support the teacher in implementing strategies that promote good behavior and engagement.

  • Progress Monitoring: Keep detailed records of student progress, noting improvements and areas where additional support is needed. You will provide feedback to teachers and contribute to discussions about student development.

  • Extracurricular Support: Participate in and support extracurricular activities, such as after-school clubs, homework sessions, and school events. Your involvement will help create a well-rounded educational experience for students.

  • Administrative Duties: Assist with administrative tasks such as marking assignments, organizing classroom materials, and setting up for lessons. You will ensure that the classroom runs smoothly and efficiently.

Ideal Candidate:

  • A recent graduate, preferably with a degree in a relevant subject area, who is considering a career in teaching or education.
  • A strong passion for working with young people and a commitment to supporting their educational development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • A proactive, can-do attitude, with the ability to take initiative and work independently when needed.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to respond to the varying needs of students and the school environment.
  • Previous experience working with children or young people, either in a school setting or through volunteering, is desirable but not essential.
