Teaching Personnel is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Graduate Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Cheadle, Stockport. This full-time position begins in October and will continue until the end of the academic year, with the possibility of a permanent role depending on performance. Role Overview: As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and students to support learning across various subjects. Your role will involve assisting in the classroom, providing targeted support to individual students or small groups, and helping to create a positive and engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons by supporting students' learning and participation.
  • Work with small groups or individual students, offering tailored support to help them understand and complete their work.
  • Provide additional support to students with special educational needs (SEN) or those who may need extra help to reach their potential.
  • Help to manage classroom behaviour, ensuring that lessons are conducted in a positive and orderly environment.
  • Assist in the preparation of lesson materials and resources, helping to create a stimulating learning atmosphere.
  • Support students in developing their study skills, confidence, and independence, encouraging them to take an active role in their education.
  • Provide feedback to teachers on students' progress and any areas of concern.
  • Participate in school activities, including extracurricular events and outings, to further support students' development.
  • Contribute to the school's wider goals by working collaboratively with staff and taking part in staff meetings and training sessions.

Requirements:

  • A degree in any discipline, with a strong academic record.
  • A passion for education and a desire to make a positive impact on young people's lives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
  • Patience, empathy, and a supportive approach to working with students of all abilities.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team, as well as independently when needed.
  • Previous experience working with young people, in an educational setting or otherwise, is desirable but not essential.
