Graduate Teaching Assistant

We are working with a client secondary school located in the heart of Urmston, dedicated to providing an exceptional educational experience for all our students. Their commitment to fostering a supportive learning environment is reflected in the diverse curriculum and focus on individual student needs. We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Graduate Teaching Assistant to join the pastoral team.

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, your primary responsibility will be to assist teachers in delivering tailored educational programs that meet the unique needs of each student. You will work closely with students who may have varying degrees of learning difficulties, emotional challenges, or physical disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Learning: Assist teachers in planning and delivering lessons that accommodate the diverse needs of students with SEN.
  • Individualized Support: Provide one-on-one support to students during lessons and activities, helping them engage with the curriculum effectively.
  • Behaviour Management: Implement strategies to promote positive behaviour and manage any challenging behaviours in accordance with school policies.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external agencies to develop Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and monitor student progress..
  • Encouragement & Motivation: Foster a positive learning environment by encouraging students’ independence and self-esteem through praise and constructive feedback.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people would be beneficial.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also being able to use your initiative when necessary.
