Graduate Teaching Assistant - Manchester Area
Start Date: As Soon As Possible
£400 - £500 per week

Are you a recent graduate eager to start your teaching career and make a positive difference in students' lives? Teaching Personnel is partnering with several schools in the Manchester area, looking for enthusiastic Graduate Teaching Assistants to support students' academic growth and personal development.

This role provides an exciting opportunity to gain firsthand experience in the classroom, develop key teaching skills, and contribute to the educational progress of young learners, particularly those needing additional support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Targeted Student Support: Provide focused one-on-one or small group support to underachieving students in Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4). You will play a crucial role in helping these students reach their academic targets and boost their confidence in key subjects.
  • Classroom Assistance: Work alongside class teachers to deliver lessons, manage classroom behaviour, and ensure a positive, focused learning environment. You'll help with lesson planning and preparation, supporting teachers in executing dynamic and interactive lessons.
  • Support for SEN/SEMH Students: Assist students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) or Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges, providing them with the additional guidance and encouragement they need to succeed.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Help assess student work, provide constructive feedback, and support teachers with marking assignments. You'll also help identify areas where students may need extra help or intervention.
  • Classroom Management: Assist in maintaining classroom discipline and ensuring students stay engaged and focused during lessons. Your support will be vital in fostering a calm and productive learning atmosphere.

Requirements:

  • University Degree: A degree in any discipline is essential. While a background in education or a related field is advantageous, it is not a requirement. Graduates from all academic fields are encouraged to apply.
  • Communication Skills: You should have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to explain concepts clearly and build strong rapport with students.
  • Positive and Patient Attitude: A calm, patient, and supportive approach is essential, especially when working with students who may struggle academically or emotionally. You should be able to handle challenges with resilience and enthusiasm.
  • Adaptability and Initiative: You will be working in dynamic school environments, so being able to quickly adapt to changing situations and proactively support the needs of students and teachers is important.

Benefits:

  • Competitive Weekly Pay: You will earn between £400 - £500 per week, depending on your experience and the specific requirements of the role.
  • Professional Development: Gain access to free CPD (Continuing Professional Development) and safeguarding courses, designed to help you build your teaching skills and enhance your employability.
  • Flexible Working Schedule: Through Teaching Personnel's user-friendly online portal, you can set your availability and enjoy a work schedule that fits around your other commitments.
  • Career Progression: This role provides a stepping stone into the teaching profession. Many of our Graduate Teaching Assistants go on to pursue PGCEs or other teaching qualifications, supported by the experience and skills they gain in this position.
  • Mentorship and Support: You will receive guidance and mentorship from experienced educators, helping you grow and develop as a teaching professional.
