Are you a recent graduate with a passion for education and a desire to inspire and support the next generation of learners? We are seeking enthusiastic Graduate Teaching Assistants to join an Ofsted good secondary school in Stockport on a full-time basis. This exciting role is available to start in September and will continue until the end of the academic year, with the potential for the position to become permanent based on performance and school requirements.

Role Overview:

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced educators, gaining invaluable insight into the teaching profession and developing essential skills to enhance your future career prospects. Your main responsibilities will include:

  1. Classroom Support: Assisting teachers in delivering engaging and interactive lessons, providing support to students, and ensuring a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes academic progress and personal development.

  2. Individualised Learning: Providing one-to-one and small group support to students, helping to reinforce learning objectives, clarify concepts, and offer additional guidance to ensure all students have the opportunity to succeed and achieve their potential.

  3. Resource Preparation: Assisting in the preparation and organisation of learning materials and resources, adapting and modifying materials to meet the diverse needs of students, and ensuring resources are accessible and conducive to learning.

  4. Behavioural Support: Implementing positive behaviour management strategies, promoting positive attitudes and behaviours, and providing pastoral support and guidance to students to help them develop social skills, resilience, and a love for learning.

  5. Assessment and Feedback: Supporting teachers in assessing student progress, monitoring achievements, and providing constructive feedback to inform teaching strategies and identify areas for additional support and intervention.

  6. Collaborative Working: Working collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs, and other support professionals to contribute to the planning and delivery of lessons, interventions, and support programmes, ensuring the individual needs of students are met and addressed effectively.

Requirements:

  • A degree qualification in a relevant subject area, with a strong academic background and a genuine passion for education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents/carers.
  • Enthusiasm, resilience, and a proactive approach to learning and development, with the desire to make a positive difference in the lives of young people.
  • Organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage tasks efficiently, assist with administrative duties, and contribute to the smooth running of the classroom and school environment.
