An Ofsted rated GOOD secondary school in Reading is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Head of Computer Science to join their permanent staff team starting from September. This role offers a unique opportunity for a passionate educator and leader to shape the future of the Computer Science department and inspire students to excel in this dynamic field.

The Head of Computer Science will be responsible for leading and developing the Computer Science curriculum, driving academic excellence, and fostering a love for technology and computing among students. The successful candidate will work closely with the senior leadership team to ensure the delivery of high-quality education and to support the school’s mission and values.

Key Responsibilities:
*Develop and implement a comprehensive Computer Science curriculum that meets national standards and fosters student engagement.
*
Lead and manage the Computer Science department, including teaching staff and support personnel.
*
Monitor and evaluate teaching and learning practices within the department to ensure high standards of education.
*
Provide professional development opportunities and mentoring for Computer Science staff.
*
Teach Computer Science across key stages, with a focus on delivering engaging and effective lessons.
*C
ollaborate with other departments and senior leaders to integrate technology and computing across the curriculum.
*
Oversee the department’s budget and resources, ensuring effective and efficient use of funds.
*
Stay abreast of advancements in Computer Science education and incorporate innovative teaching methods and technologies.
*
Organize extracurricular activities, such as coding clubs and competitions, to enhance students' learning experiences.
*
Maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment for all students.

Requirements:
*
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a degree in Computer Science or a related field.
*
Proven experience teaching Computer Science at the secondary school level.
*
Demonstrated leadership experience, preferably as a Head of Department or in a similar role.
*
Strong knowledge of the Computer Science curriculum and current educational trends.
*Excellent organizational and time management skills.
*
Ability to inspire and motivate students and staff.
*
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
*
Commitment to continuous professional development and educational excellence.
*
Proficiency in using educational technology and software to enhance learning.
