A highly regarded and rapidly improving secondary school is seeking a dynamic and innovative Head of Design and Technology to join their permanent staff from September 2024. The successful candidate will lead the Design and Technology department, fostering creativity, excellence, and a passion for learning among students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Design and Technology department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement a forward-thinking curriculum that engages and inspires students.
  • Oversee the planning and delivery of lessons, ensuring they meet the needs of all learners.
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress and performance of both students and staff within the department.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes student well-being and academic success.
  • Collaborate with other department heads and senior leadership to support the school’s strategic goals.
  • Ensure the department’s resources are managed efficiently and effectively.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Design and Technology or a related field.
  • Significant teaching experience, preferably within a secondary school setting.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
  • A track record of raising student achievement and driving academic excellence.
  • Strong knowledge of the Design and Technology curriculum and current educational practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and a passion for innovation in education.
  • Enthusiasm for creating a stimulating learning environment that encourages creativity and problem-solving.
