Head of Design & Technology required for a high school near Havant

About the Role:

We are seeking an ambitious and dedicated Head of Design and Technology to lead the Design and Technology department at a well-regarded college located near Havant. The successful candidate will take responsibility for shaping an innovative and practical curriculum, inspiring students to engage in hands-on learning that fosters creativity and problem-solving. You will manage a team of teachers, guide departmental planning, and ensure students achieve their full potential in Design and Technology.

This role is perfect for an experienced DT teacher ready to step into leadership or for a current Head of Department looking for a new challenge in a well-resourced, forward-thinking environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Design and Technology department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement an engaging and innovative DT curriculum.
  • Support and mentor department staff, creating a collaborative and supportive environment.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and intervention where needed.
  • Manage resources and equipment, ensuring health and safety standards are met.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities and contribute to wider school initiatives.
  • Attend leadership meetings and contribute to strategic development within the college.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Strong background in teaching Design and Technology, with experience across Key Stage 3 and 4.
  • Leadership experience or a desire to take on a leadership role.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and management skills.
  • Passionate about Design and Technology and committed to student success.
  • A valid DBS on the update service or a willingness to undergo a DBS check.
