An esteemed and highly reputable Multi Academy Trust is seeking an exceptional Head of Lower School to join its dedicated team in Darwen. This is a permanent leadership position, offering a fantastic opportunity to shape the educational journey of young learners within a vibrant and supportive environment.

The Head of Lower School will play a pivotal role in overseeing the academic and pastoral development of students, fostering an engaging, inclusive, and high-performing learning environment. Working collaboratively with senior leadership, the successful candidate will inspire and lead a dynamic team of teachers and support staff, ensuring the delivery of outstanding educational outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide visionary leadership for the Lower School, ensuring high standards of teaching, learning, and student progress.
  • Develop and implement innovative educational strategies to enhance the learning experience.
  • Lead, mentor, and support staff, promoting continuous professional development.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, inclusivity, and wellbeing across the school community.
  • Monitor and evaluate student performance, setting ambitious goals and ensuring their achievement.
  • Build strong relationships with parents, carers, and the wider community to support student success.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding policies and promote the welfare of all students.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Proven leadership experience, ideally within a primary or lower school setting.
  • A qualified teacher with a track record of delivering high academic standards.
  • Strong knowledge of the primary curriculum and child development.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate both staff and students.
  • Demonstrable experience of implementing effective school improvement strategies.
  • A passion for educational excellence and a commitment to creating an inclusive, nurturing environment where all students can thrive.
  • A deep understanding of safeguarding principles and practices.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Experience in a senior leadership role (Head of Department, Assistant Headteacher, or equivalent).
  • A strong background in primary education, with knowledge of current educational policies and practices.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • The ability to lead by example, demonstrating integrity, empathy, and resilience.
