Role and Responsibilities:
The Head of Maths will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the Mathematics Department and ensuring high standards of teaching and learning. Responsibilities include:

  • Leading and managing the Mathematics Department, including curriculum development and assessment strategies.
  • Inspiring and motivating students to achieve their full potential in mathematics.
  • Supporting and developing teaching staff within the department through coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities.
  • Collaborating with senior leadership to drive whole-school improvement initiatives.
  • Ensuring the effective use of data to monitor and improve student outcomes.
  • Promoting a culture of high expectations and continuous improvement.

Requirements:
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a strong background in mathematics education.
  • Significant UK teaching experience within the secondary school sector.
  • Proven leadership experience, ideally within a mathematics department.
  • A thorough understanding of the national curriculum and assessment requirements for mathematics.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and engage students and staff.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and a passion for educational excellence.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to the broader school community.
