Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head of Spanish to lead our Modern Foreign Languages department. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the Spanish curriculum, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning, and fostering a love of languages among students. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on our school’s language program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Spanish department, including curriculum planning and development.
  • Deliver high-quality Spanish lessons to students across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching and learning within the department.
  • Support and mentor other language teachers, promoting professional development.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and enthusiasm for Spanish.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and share best practices.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities and school events to enhance the overall educational experience.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • A degree in Spanish or a related subject.
  • Proven experience teaching Spanish at the secondary school level.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students and staff.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and learning.

Desirable:

  • Experience in a leadership role within a Modern Foreign Languages department.
  • Familiarity with the UK National Curriculum for Modern Foreign Languages.
