Position: Educational Health Care Assistant
Location: SEN Schools in Preston, Darwen and Blackpool.
Hours: Fulltime.
Contract Type: Temporary.

We are seeking dedicated Health Care Assistants to join our SEN school team and provide vital support to students with medical and health needs. The schools support children with a range of medical conditions and complex SEN needs, and Health Care Assistants like you play a key role in ensuring every child receives the care they need to thrive at school.

Key Information:

As a Health Care Assistant, you will work closely with students, teachers, and healthcare professionals to provide tailored health care support. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Administering medication and providing first aid to students as required.
  • Assisting students with medical needs, such as diabetes, epilepsy, asthma, or physical disabilities.
  • Supporting children with personal care, mobility, and feeding where necessary.
  • Monitoring and recording students’ health conditions, ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Collaborating with teaching staff to ensure the well-being and safety of students during school hours.
  • Liaising with parents, school nurses, and external health professionals to develop individual healthcare plans.

What we are looking for:

  • Experience as a Health Care Assistant or in a similar role (preferably in a school or childcare setting).
  • Relevant health care qualifications (e.g., NVQ in Health and Social Care, First Aid Certification).
  • A compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach to working with children.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
