Part-Time Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

Location: Primary School in Accrington

Job Overview: We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Part-Time Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our primary school in Accrington. The successful candidate will primarily support Key Stage 1 (KS1) classes, contributing to the overall learning and development of students.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Classroom Support: Provide assistance to teachers in delivering engaging lessons, focusing on Key Stage 1 curriculum objectives.
  2. Small Group and 1:1 Support: Work with individuals or small groups of students to provide targeted support, addressing specific learning needs.
  3. Behaviour Management: Support the maintenance of a positive and inclusive classroom environment, assisting with behavior management as required.
  4. Resource Preparation: Assist in the preparation of teaching materials, ensuring resources are ready for use in lessons.
  5. Assessment Support: Collaborate with teachers in the assessment of student progress, helping to track and record individual achievements.
  6. Class Cover: Be prepared to cover classes in the absence of a teacher, following lesson plans and maintaining a productive learning environment.
  7. Lunchtime Supervision: During the Wednesday to Friday afternoon sessions, engage in lunchtime supervision duties to ensure the well-being and safety of students.
  8. Communication: Maintain effective communication with teaching staff, parents, and other relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Minimum of Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
  2. Proven experience working in a primary school setting, preferably within Key Stage 1.
  3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  4. Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  5. Understanding of child development and learning strategies.
  6. Knowledge of behavior management techniques.
  7. First Aid certification (desirable but not essential).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
