Are you a compassionate individual who is driven and want to work with secondary children to support them in an Alternative Education Centre in Runcorn, committed to providing exceptional educational opportunities for secondary students. The centre offers a unique blend of academic and vocational learning, with specialized workshops in Hair and Beauty, Construction, and Mechanics, leading to valuable qualifications for our students.

They are seeking a passionate and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting teachers and working directly with students in smaller group settings. This role involves not only classroom support but also 1-1 interventions, focusing on building strong, trustworthy relationships with students to enhance their learning experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with students to provide individualized support and intervention, both in small groups and 1-1 settings.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of engaging and effective lessons.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, building strong relationships with students to encourage their personal and academic growth.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to student assessments.
  • Support the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students requiring additional support.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for students.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience working as a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant or in a similar educational support role.
  • Strong ability to build trusting and supportive relationships with students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn about vocational subjects such as Hair and Beauty, Construction, and Mechanics.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to helping students achieve their potential.
  • Relevant HLTA qualification or equivalent experience.

The ideal candidate would be somebody who has lots of resilience, can use their initiative and can work together with other members of staff to make sure that the children are achieving to the best of their ability whilst feeling safe and comfortable in their environment.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
